The mansion was glowing with golden lights.
Crystal chandeliers sparkled above the ballroom. Expensive decorations covered every corner, while wealthy guests dressed in elegant suits and beautiful evening gowns enjoyed the private celebration.
It was a party filled with laughter, music, and luxury.
But near a large dining table stood a little girl who looked completely different from everyone else.
Her name was Sophie.
She was only five years old. She wore a simple, slightly faded dress and old shoes. In her arms, she held a worn-out teddy bear that she never seemed to let go of.
Unlike the other children at the party, Sophie wasn’t playing or running around.
She was quietly waiting for someone.
A wealthy businessman named Richard noticed her standing alone.
Richard was one of the richest and most respected guests at the event. Wearing an expensive black suit and a luxury watch, he had everything money could buy.
But something about the little girl caught his attention.
He had just heard her singing.
Richard approached her with a warm smile.
“What a beautiful voice!” he said happily.
Sophie looked up at him.
“I’m waiting for my mama,” she answered softly.
Richard smiled and bent down slightly.
“Would you sing a song for me again?”
Sophie hugged her teddy bear and smiled shyly.
“Mama said I must be quiet.”
Richard laughed gently.
“Don’t worry, little one. Everyone wants to hear your voice!”
For a moment, Sophie looked as if she wanted to sing.
Then she glanced toward the entrance.
Her smile slowly disappeared.
“Mama…” she whispered.
Richard turned around, but nobody was standing there.
He looked back at Sophie.
“Are you okay, sweetheart?”
Sophie held her teddy bear even tighter.
“Please… don’t let them take me away.”
Richard’s smile vanished.
