The Daily Mail reported on August 7, 2026, that sources close to Urban and Kidman challenged claims that he was “devastated” by rumors about her dating life.
Although Kidman filed for divorce, Urban was said to be the one who ended the marriage. One source pointed to the strain Urban had felt behind the scenes.

“Keith’s been unhappy for a long time,” the source said. “He didn’t want to be on another red carpet or have a staff full of people and be forced to wear designer [clothes]. He doesn’t care about any of that. That’s not who he is, and he’s been dealing with it for a long time.”
The source said Urban preferred to keep his focus on his work: “He just wants to make music and play music. The rest was all very complicated and outside of his comfort zone.”

According to an insider, Kidman had privately been the angrier party after the marriage ended. Her decision to date again could actually “be a relief for [Urban],” the source said, because she might now “ease up a little.”

“She’s the one that’s mad at him. He is not getting to see his kids as much as he wants,” the insider said. “It’s basically an ‘if you want to see them come back home’ kinda thing.”
Another source said Kidman had already introduced their daughters to the man she was reportedly seeing. The group had lunch together, and the insider described the meeting as a success, saying Kidman was pleased that her daughters got along with him.
The source also said Sunday Rose was particularly happy about his ties to several fashion houses, which could potentially help her modeling ambitions. Urban’s alleged reaction came after Kidman was spotted at an Italian hotel in July, sharing a cheerful exchange with another man.

The Identity Behind the Poolside Photos
The man seen alongside Kidman is believed to be private equity businessman Michael Reinstein, 54, who has reportedly been seen with the actress before.
Unlike Kidman, Reinstein has largely stayed out of the public spotlight despite leading a global investment firm. He is the founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Regent, which he established in 2013.
According to the company’s website, Reinstein has led more than 45 acquisitions across the automotive, industrial, consumer, luxury, media, and technology sectors. The firm says it employs more than 40,000 people across 65 countries.
Before founding Regent, Reinstein worked in the Office of President Ronald Reagan. He later attended the University of Southern California and graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law.
While Reinstein has an Instagram account with more than 43,000 followers, the profile includes little information beyond his name and offers few insights into his personal life.
The Portofino sighting came as Kidman’s personal life continued to attract public attention following her January 2026 divorce from Urban, after they separated in June 2025. Amid the split, their daughters remained Kidman’s top priority.

In recent months, rumors have linked Urban to 26-year-old Karley Scott Collins, with claims that the two are already living together.

The musician then invited Collins to support him on the High and Alive tour, which wrapped shortly after Urban’s split from Kidman was made public in September 2025.

An airport sighting in Nashville painted a very different picture, as the actress looked lighthearted, glowing even, her natural strawberry-blonde curls bouncing as she walked beside her daughters. It marked a dramatic change from her somber demeanor just months prior, when she admitted, “I’m hanging in there.”
As one columnist put it, “Nicole Kidman appears to be feeling herself a little more than usual lately. Her hair is curly, she’s [sic] been beaming. Is this the usual Kidman je ne sais quoi… or is there something else going on?”
