I told them. No one believed me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The man\u2019s face collapsed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Emily\u2019s hand tightened around the maid\u2019s fingers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMy own family walked away,\u201d she breathed. \u201cBut she didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mourners looked down, ashamed now in their black suits and polished shoes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The man reached for Emily\u2019s hand, but stopped when she turned away.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then she looked at the maid and whispered, \u201cWhat\u2019s your name?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnna.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Emily\u2019s eyes filled with tears.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThen Anna,\u201d she said softly, \u201cyou didn\u2019t break a coffin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her voice trembled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou opened a grave they were too rich to question.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The chapel erupted, but the maid did not move away.
