In May 2021, she announced plans to return to the stage at Resorts World Las Vegas, but the shows were postponed because of health problems, according to\u00a0<a class=\"lc -V\" href=\"https:\/\/www.celinedion.com\/about\/biography\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-label=\"https:\/\/www.celinedion.com\/about\/biography\/\">her official biography<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"fm\">On December 8, 2022, the Canadian singer publicly revealed that she had been diagnosed with\u00a0<strong class=\"Sl\">stiff-person syndrome<\/strong>. She committed to\u00a0<strong class=\"Sl\">intensive rehabilitation<\/strong>, including new medications, physical therapy, vocal therapy and immunotherapy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"fm\">And that was only part of the work. As she prepares for the Paris shows, Dion is doing\u00a0<strong class=\"Sl\">90-minute Pilates sessions three times a week<\/strong>. Her trainer, Naomi, even told her that she was becoming more flexible during one session. Dion&#8217;s immediate response was to ask, &#8220;<strong class=\"Sl\">Too flexible?&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"fm\">The answer, thankfully, was no. As a child, Dion dreamed of becoming a gymnast after watching Nadia Comaneci earn perfect scores at the 1976 Olympics. She eventually abandoned that dream after becoming too tall for gymnastics, but the desire to push her body never completely disappeared.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"fm\">Years later, she set herself\u00a0<strong class=\"Sl\">three simple physical goals<\/strong>. The first was to be able to sit straight. &#8220;I wanted to sit straight, and I could not. Dion described imagining herself disappearing among the leaves of a tree because she could no longer give fans the &#8220;apples&#8221; they had always come to her for.
