That support extended beyond encouragement. Lainey recalled that when she decided she wanted to attend beauty school rather than college, Dolly never questioned the choice.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Instead, she supported her niece’s ambitions \u2014 and helped make them possible.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Lainey recalled that Dolly asked her to sing with her on the\u00a0Smoky Mountain DNA<\/i>\u00a0album<\/a> when she was a freshman in high school. She admitted she was “SO nervous,” but said her aunt had a way of making her feel safe and confident.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

For Lainey, those opportunities became precious memories after Dolly\u2019s death. “I’m so thankful I said yes to the opportunities and memories I got to share with her as my Aunt Dolly, including being in a movie with her,” she wrote.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
