Episode 2: The Husband Who Pretended Not to Know His Wife

Emily stared at Daniel.

“Who am I?” she repeated, her voice shaking. “I’m your wife, Daniel. The mother of your children!”

Several travelers turned to look.

Daniel glanced around nervously, then lowered his voice.

“Emily, please. Don’t make a scene.”

“Don’t make a scene?” she asked. “I came here to surprise you. I brought your babies because they haven’t seen their father in three months. And I found you kissing Vanessa!”

At the mention of her name, Vanessa finally spoke.

“Emily, I can explain.”

Emily turned toward her.

“Then explain it. Tell me why you were kissing my husband.”

Vanessa opened her mouth but said nothing.

Daniel stepped between them.

“This isn’t what you think.”

Emily let out a bitter laugh.

“Then tell me what it is. Because from where I’m standing, my husband was kissing another woman.”

Daniel rubbed his forehead.

“Vanessa and I were talking about something personal. You misunderstood the situation.”

“Did I misunderstand the kiss, too?”

He had no answer.

Little Olivia began crying in Emily’s arms. Emily gently rocked her, trying to calm her daughter even as her own shoulders shook.

For one brief moment, Daniel looked at the babies. His expression softened.

“Emily, let’s go somewhere private. We can talk about this at home.”

“No,” she replied. “You’ve had three months to tell me the truth. I’m not leaving until you do.”

Vanessa suddenly looked at Daniel with an expression Emily had never seen before—fear.

“Daniel,” Vanessa whispered, “you need to tell her.”

“Be quiet,” he snapped.

Emily froze.

She had expected denial. She had expected excuses. But the fear in Vanessa’s eyes suggested something much bigger than a secret kiss.

Emily looked at the woman she had once trusted like a sister.

“How long?” she asked quietly.

Vanessa’s eyes filled with tears.

Daniel immediately interrupted.

“Nothing happened between us. She’s confused, and you’re making everything worse.”

But Vanessa shook her head.

“Stop lying, Daniel.”

The words hung in the air.

Daniel turned toward his cousin, his jaw tightening.

Vanessa took a shaky breath and looked at Emily.

“There is something you need to know,” she said. “Something he never wanted you to find out.”

Emily felt her stomach tighten.

“What?”

Vanessa glanced at Daniel one last time.

Then she reached into her purse and pulled out her phone.

“I have proof.”
