Episode 8: The Truth That Changed Everything

Episode 8: The Truth That Changed Everything

The following morning, William gathered Elena, Margaret, and Adrian in his office.

A clinic representative joined them by video call and confirmed that the report Adrian had presented contained altered information.

The original records did not support Adrian’s accusations.

Elena covered her mouth as tears filled her eyes.

For years, she had carried the shame of being told she was the reason her marriage had failed.

Now the evidence showed that Adrian had used a false document to strengthen his accusations.

“You knew what you were doing,” Elena whispered.

Adrian tried to interrupt.

“I was angry. I wanted a family, and you couldn’t give me one.”

“You were allowed to leave,” Elena replied. “You were never allowed to destroy my dignity.”

William asked Adrian to leave the property. This time, Adrian had no document and no accusation left to hide behind.

But another truth remained.

The clinic’s records revealed that Elena’s condition had never been fully evaluated. Her former doctor had advised further testing, but Adrian had refused to continue the appointments.

The discovery did not guarantee that Elena could become pregnant. It simply meant that her future had never been as certain as Adrian had claimed.

For the first time, Elena felt free to seek answers without fear.

Margaret approached her afterward.

“I owe you an apology,” she admitted.

Elena looked at the older woman.

“You don’t owe me just words. Your grandchildren need to see that you were wrong.”

Margaret lowered her head.

That evening, William took Elena to the garden, where seven small lanterns had been placed along the path.

Each child held one.

Daisy stepped forward first.

“We want you to stay.”

Rose and Ruby joined her.

One by one, the other children made the same request.

William looked at Elena.

“I love you. But I won’t ask you to become their mother unless it’s what your heart wants.”

Elena looked at the seven children surrounding her.

Then she smiled through her tears.

“I think my heart decided a long time ago.”

William reached for her hand.

But just as the children began cheering, Elena received a message from the clinic.

Her appointment had been confirmed.

And the results could change the way she understood her future.

To be continued…
